Position Summary

The Advanced Analytics Manager directs a team of data scientists and data engineers to develop and implement leading edge artificial intelligence and machine learning models that achieve operational efficiencies and improve financial sector risk identification. The manager develops collaborative partnerships with Reserve Bank and System stakeholders, and advances the use and understanding of emerging technology throughout the organization.

This position requires access to confidential supervisory information and/or FOMC information, which is limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law. Protected Individuals include, but are not limited to, U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and U.S. permanent residents who either are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization or who have applied for naturalization within the requisite timeframe. Candidates who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents may be eligible for the information access required for this position and sponsorship for a work visa, and subsequently for permanent residence, if they sign a declaration of intent to become a U.S. citizen and meet other eligibility requirements.

 In addition, all candidates must undergo an enhanced background check and comply with all applicable information handling rules, and all non-U.S. citizens must sign a declaration of intent to become a U.S. citizen and pursue a path to citizenship.

Essential Accountabilities

  • Manages a team of data scientists to develop the strategic direction for the application of augmented intelligence and machine learning to achieve operational efficiencies and improve financial sector risk identification.
  • Provides valuable direction and insights to team members, and creates a culture of innovation, characterized by collaboration, a learning orientation and measured risk taking.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communications and working relationships with business stakeholders, FRS experts and other regulatory and industry stakeholders.
  • Develops advanced analytic tools through the use of traditional regression, artificial intelligence and/or machine learning modeling. Hands-on development experience using Python and/or R.
  • Oversees Data Science project pipeline to ensure timely delivery of prioritized tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics or other quantitative field with a minimum of 7 years of diverse professional work experience which may include 3+ years of supervisory responsibilities OR Master's Degree in Data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics or other quantitative field with a minimum of 5 years of diverse professional work experience which may include 1+ years of supervisory responsibilities.
  • Ability to influence and lead multiple partner teams towards a common goal and managing relationships with senior partners
  • Shows institutional awareness and knowledge and an understanding of applied problem solving. Develops and maintains expertise on banking and regulatory related practices, standards, trends and issues.
  • Creativity in solving non-traditional problems; entrepreneurial drive to learn new skills and technologies.
  • Able to work with non-specialists in a partnership model, conveys information clearly and creates a sense of trust with stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of technical professionals.
  • Advanced machine learning and natural language processing skills, neural net and deep learning skills preferred.
  • Experience with machine learning APIs and computational packages (examples: TensorFlow, Theano, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-Learn, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, statsmodels).
  • Knowledge of model evaluation, tuning and performance, operationalization and scalability of scientific techniques and establishing decision strategies.
  • Advanced presentation and writing skills.
  • Experience with agile methods preferred.
  • Programming skills in Python, R, Spark, SAS

Physical Demands and General Working Conditions

Traditional office environment: Employees typically sit most of the day, work with a computer and may answer/respond to phone calls. Physical movement consists of walking for meetings, breaks, etc. Ability to lift items weighing approximately 20 pounds on a limited basis is required. Employees may be required to travel by car/air.
