The Fed’s Supervision Division is seeking an Assistant Information Technology (IT) Risk Specialist for its Safety and Soundness Unit. The Supervision Division is responsible for examining and inspecting statechartered Fed-member banks, bank holding companies, savings and loan holding companies, and financial holding companies. The IT portion of a safety and soundness examination is a risk-focused assessment, which focuses on the ability of the financial institution to identify and manage IT-related risks associated with ongoing operations. In particular, these reviews include network security, overall Information security, and cybersecurity.

The Assistant IT Risk Specialist will review the overall nature and risk of the bank’s operations, the adequacy of the bank’s IT-related internal controls and audit function, and the bank’s compliance with laws and regulations. Furthermore, the Assistant IT Risk Specialist will assist in Significant Service Provider examinations and participate on special fintech reviews when these firms provide services to a financial institution.   • Identify key risks inherent in financial institutions IT environment, including third-party dependence, and assess the effectiveness of their risk management practices.
  • Participate in the oversight of functional areas at supervised financial institutions.
  • Lead specialty exams of low to moderate risk/complexity
  • Prepare risk assessments, supervisory strategies and scoping documents.
  • Compile and submit accurate, comprehensive and in-depth examination findings and work papers.
  • Communicate examination findings to financial institution management, safety and soundness examination Examiners-in-Charge (EICs), and Division management.
  • Assess compliance with banking laws and regulations.
  • Maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, which include fellow examiners and risk specialists, financial institution management, and District and System staff and management.
  • Satisfactorily complete relevant Learning Units of the Examiner Commissioning Program and successfully perform corresponding examination assignments.
  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience.
  • 3 years relevant experience
  • One of the following certifications is preferred: Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA); Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • Familiarity with common cybersecurity frameworks, network architecture, and IT-related internal controls and audit.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay current on technology and industry practices.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce material to sufficiently communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate orally to accurately and concisely convey information to groups and to answer questions and facilitate discussion.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and ability to manage multiple competing projects and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, team leadership and highly developed relationship management skills.
  • Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in coaching and mentoring peers.
  • Travel (30%).
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered at a lower job grade and/or salary.
  • Position requires US Citizen or lawful permanent resident with three or more years of US residency.
