Position Summary

Responsible for the analysis, design, development and maintenance of business intelligence (BI) solutions for customers in the enterprise across multiple business lines and technical platforms. Assists with providing technical direction and planning. Serve as project manager, coach, and mentor when needed. Provides production support for users of internally-developed BI. Stays current with technologies both inside and outside the enterprise to enhance BI architecture, design, and development. 

 

This requisition is open to find one qualified candidate to fill one of the following roles (see differences within the description below):

  • Business Intelligence Architect

  • Business Intelligence Architect Senior

  • Business Intelligence Architect Lead

 

Essential Accountabilities

  1. Leads the design and support of smaller scale BI applications and architecture. Serves as an individual contributor on department, Bank, System, and/or Treasury projects.

  2. Designs, develops, implements, and supports moderately complex BI solutions for an enterprise audience including: integration with data sources; highly automated data refresh processes; best-in-class data visualizations, dashboards, and reports that communicate critical insights to drive decision making; testing methodology and criteria to ensure data/information quality; delivery of training and demos to business users.

  3. Identifies, researches, and resolves moderately complex technical problems associated with production BI applications.

  4. Demonstrates commitment to innovation, quality, schedules, and budget.

  5. Adheres to Bank and System development methodologies and standards.

  6. With guidance from senior colleagues, develops standards, policies and procedures for the form, structure and attributes of the BI tools and systems.

  7. Supports research of new technology and contributes to the development of business cases to support enterprise wide BI solutions.

  8. Interviews stakeholders to gather requirements for moderately complex BI projects and determines business requirements and priorities

  9. Develops project management artifacts and documentation. Follows project management standards and methodologies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Adheres to the Bank's attendance policies through regular and prompt attendance.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3+ years of related work experience.

  • Senior-level consideration requires Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5+ years of related work experience.

  • Lead-level consideration requires Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 7+ years of related work experience.

 

Knowledge Areas
  • SQL query writing, data manipulation, data cleansing, and database design principles.

  • Data visualization technologies PowerBI and Tableau

  • Data visualization best practices, fundamental design principles, and presentation of information

  • SQL Server and Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, VBA).

  • Unique BI needs and requirements of a specific business area.

  • Statistical packages (SAS, R, etc.), data science, and machine learning preferred

 

Skill Areas (varies depending on level of experience)

  • Able to prepare moderately to highly complex data sets for the creation of dashboards.

  • Ability to write moderately to highly complex SQL code to prepare data for analysis in a visualization tool.

  • Able to implement automation tools and techniques for data management, such as ETL, PowerShell, etc.

  • Proven analytical abilities to understand data and manipulate it across systems.

  • Moderate to extensive experience implementing report designs in an agile development environment.

  • Moderate to extensive experience creating wireframes/mockups.

  • With or without guidance from senior colleagues, interpretation of requirements and data to optimize data visualization and reporting

  • Moderate to extensive experience designing intuitive, actionable dashboards.

  • Quality assurance best practices. Data validation and end user testing.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with customers at varying levels within the organization. Able to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical constituents.

  • Strong customer and relationship management skills. Interacting with the customer to elicit and develop business requirements.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies.

 

Physical Demands and General Working Conditions

Traditional office environment: Employees typically sit most of the day, work with a computer and may answer/respond to phone calls. Physical movement consists of walking for meetings, breaks, etc. Ability to lift items weighing approximately 20 pounds on a limited basis is required. Addendum as needed: Employees may be required to travel by car/air.
