The St Louis Fed is one of 12 Reserve Banks serving all or parts of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas with branches in Little Rock, Louisville and Memphis. The St. Louis Fed’s most critical functions include: promoting stable prices and economic growth, fostering a sound financial system, providing payment services to financial institutions, supporting the U.S. Treasury's financial operations, and advancing economic education, community development and fair access to credit.

Under the direction of a Group Leader, the Currency Operations Technician performs some of the following duties in a highly regulated operations area; and, adheres to a set of defined rules and regulations, including those outlined in the Treasury Currency Operations Manual (TCOM), the Custody Control Principles and Standards (CCPS), and in the internal Standard Operating Procedure Manual (SOP). 
  • Prepares currency shipments for financial institutions. Strap and bundle verification of currency deposits received from financial institution.
  • Prepares currency for processing, verifies currency deposits from financial institutions, initiates adjustments, identifies suspect counterfeit currency and balances team inventory while monitoring production and maintaining internal and Treasury procedures and controls.
  • Enters currency data into the currency application system and balances team inventory daily.
  • Tests semi-annually for detecting counterfeit currency.
  • Performs job responsibilities while maintaining quality and productivity goals and contributing to team performance.
  • Communicates effectively with co-workers, supervisor, and other Bank employees.

Qualifications & Requirements 

  • High School or GED
  • Manufacturing, production, warehouse, logistics experience preferred
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Some experience in entering data into automated systems
  • Must be able to work 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.
