DevOps Engineer

As a member of an IT team that provides application development, database, server administration, information security, and desktop support the DevOps Engineer will share in the database, server administration, and application development responsibilities.  In addition, the incumbent will participate in IT risk assessment and compliance work, and contingency planning and testing activities.

Specific Responsibilities:

·        Customer service oriented support for Economist’s research activities

·        Develop, deploy, support and monitor Python/Django web applications

·        Monitor and support Linux Cluster, analytics applications such asStata,   MatLab, Python, R
·        Monitor and support VMware Horizon VDI Cluster

·        Containerize and deploy applications to OpenShift

·        Secure and monitor all infrastructure components

·        Support compliance activities

Please Note:  Position is responsible for 24x7 support for some systems.   As such, this position is required to occasionally work off-hours for maintenance or to resolve trouble calls.

Basic Qualifications: 


·        B. Sc. Computer Science or Information Technology

·        Excellent communication skills
·        4+ years of overall software development and Linux Sys Admin/DevOps experience
 ·        4+ years of Python and Django experience

·        4+ years of database experience with products such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, Mongo

·        2+ years of AWS (EC2, CloudFormation, CloudWatch)

·        2+ years of VMware vSphere and VMware Horizon

·        1+ years of Docker experience

·        1+ years of Windows desktop and Server

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Experience supporting Sun Grid Engine, Stata, MatLab, Python, R

·        Experience supporting Linux, Windows, OpenShift, AWS

·        Experience with VMware vSphere and VMware Horizon

·        Experience with Nexus and XL Deploy

·        In-depth understanding of networking and tools used to debug networking issues

·        In-depth understanding of HTTP, SAML, RedHat, Docker

·        Certifications in RedHat, AWS
