This position reports to the Vice President of Data Privacy and serves in two capacities:

  1. Partnering in the development, implementation and maintenance of a privacy program for the Federal Reserve System including all twelve Federal Reserve Banks
  2. Serving as the Privacy Lead for the 9th District, responsible for implementation of the System program locally

Specific responsibilities include:


  • Lead and manage District-wide implementation of the data privacy standards
  • Drive adoption of strong data privacy practices through effective partnering and communication
  • Lead teams and projects to implement and enhance processes, applications and tools that assist stakeholders in managing and safeguarding data privacy
  • Lead the development of reports and presentations that effectively communicate metrics, risk, progress and status
  • Lead and collaborate on workgroups to develop, recommend, influence and implement data privacy practices
  • Coach and develop staff including clear communication of expectations and performance feedback
  • Promote an environment that encourages strong employee engagement, fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace and reduces barriers to productive work

Communication and Consulting

  • Expand organizational understanding of the privacy program by developing and delivering communications, presentations, guidance documents and training
  • Build strong relationships with business partners across departments and locations
  • Influence internal business partners to mitigate privacy risk in a manner that supports achievement of their objectives
  • Interpret privacy-related regulations, NIST standards and Federal Reserve controls, and translate them into plan language to promote business understanding
  • Provide sound advice on privacy matters and incidents
  • Collaborate with partners in Law, Information Security and Risk Management to achieve joint objectives
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction

Policies, Practices and Standards

  • Contribute to the development of standards, processes and tools for data privacy, and continually refine them to reflect evolution of the industry, technology, customer business objectives and Federal Reserve business practices
  • Ensure effective and consistent application of data privacy standards, policies and procedures in the 9th District
  • Conduct and document privacy risk assessments, with consideration for the privacy of employees, job candidates and customers in addition to any legal or security issues
  • Partner with Law and Procurement departments on vendor contracts and processes
  • Identify gaps in implementation of privacy program and work with business partners to address
  • Oversee maintenance of the District’s PII inventory
  • Maintain privacy documentation


  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • CIPP or CIPM certification (current or prior), or equivalent privacy knowledge and experience
  • 10 years of legal, risk management or privacy experience
  • Commitment to and passion for data privacy
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and form collaborative partnerships with stakeholders
  • Management experience
  • High level of ethics and integrity, with good judgment and objectivity
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation and writing skills
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and analysis skills; ability and willingness to dig in to complex and novel situations
  • Experience leading, influencing, collaborating and getting things done across departments and locations in a large, matrixed corporate or government setting
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to conceptualize, plan, manage and communicate highly complex multi-year projects
  • Proficiency using standard business applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
