The St Louis Fed is one of 12 Reserve Banks serving all or parts of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas with branches in Little Rock, Louisville and Memphis. The Statistics function plays a vital role in the Federal Reserve System as it is responsible for the collection, analysis, and delivery of information in a timely and accurate manner to policymakers and end users to carry out the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy, supervision and regulation, and fiscal agency responsibilities.  The data provided are used to construct and interpret monetary aggregates and reserve measures, evaluate the safety and soundness of the U.S. financial system, reflect the organizational structures, and determine compliance with various regulations and restrictions.

The Statistical Analyst analyzes structure and regulatory reports submitted by Eighth District depository institutions, bank holding companies, savings and loan holding companies and nonbank entities to ensure timely qualitative information for end users, which include the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the United States Treasury, the Federal Open Market Committee, supervisory examiners, and research economists.  Analysts are also responsible for maintaining automated systems, counseling management officials of financial institutions, communicating findings and making recommendations to management, the Board of Governors, and others. This position combines professional, analytical, and technical skills.

  • In accordance with prescribed deadlines, review and analyze financial reports; document edit explanations; provide explanatory comments for atypical financial information, and ensure accurate data to the Board of Governors and/or FRB New York in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the quality, accuracy and timeliness of assigned data series.
  • Act as primary contact for the Board of Governors and/or FRB New York for assigned series.
  • Counsel financial institutions of reporting requirements.
  • Perform other tasks to support core business activities and ensure efficient operation of the section.
  • A Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting, finance, business, economics, or commensurate experience.
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Previous experience in the financial sector desired.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial reports, formulate conclusions, and prepare related reports.
  • Experience in automated systems and databases for retrieval and analysis of financial data.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to handle a variety of duties independently.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment to meet section goals and internal/external deadlines.
  • Ability to rapidly learn new material.
  • Minimal travel required.
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered at a lower pay grade and salary.
  • US citizenship or permanent resident intending to become a citizen who meets certain other requirements.
