Position Summary:
Group Vice President (GVP) officers are responsible for defining business strategy and contributing to the organization through their vision. GVPs have a significant span of control with high degree of organizational impact, risk, and accountability. The GVP of solutions engineering is responsible for the architecture, engineering design, and delivery of the infrastructure in the National IT Infrastructure. This includes the hybrid data centers, remotely controlled locations within the Reserve Banks and network systems both on-premise and cloud.  In addition, the GVP is responsible for the engineering and delivery of several system services such as National Integration Services, Data Management Services and Business Intelligence Services. 


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for solution architecture, design, engineering, and build services.

  • In charge of capacity management for the platform layer of the infrastructure, ensuring continued and optimized alignment of the infrastructure services with the evolving needs of the business.

  • Responsible for executive oversight of engineering teams responsible for planning and packaging new releases of software, creation of maintenance plans, establishing hardware refresh schedules, and maintaining multi-year roadmaps for hardware and software solutions.

  • Participates in the demand management process for the business unit by assigning resources to projects that the Project Management Office defines in priority order.

  • Works with business teams to ensure technical engineering choices are balanced to deliver optimal performance and value for money.

  • Leads effective communications with the business to ensure IT solutions follow System IT Principles for simplification and standardization while meeting business requirements.

  • Maintains a level of knowledge of the business and the hardware, operating systems and application software in use throughout the System to be able to advise on the merits and shortcomings of different solutions.

  • Ensures the infrastructure solutions delivered are compliant with SAFR and Technology standards and external regulatory and statutory requirements.

  • Provides third-level support for incidents and problems that cannot be resolved at the first and second levels.

  • Accountable for the security of the infrastructure as built and supported.

  • Responsible for the annual budget and expenditures.

Position Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills, as well as outstanding presentation and persuasion capabilities, with exceptional management presence that elicits confidence and credibility.  Ability to communicate effectively across a wide group of people and audiences. 

  • Strong judgment, relationship building skills, and excellent management and coaching skills.

  • Working knowledge of Information Technology industry to lead business line or multiple departments.  As a key part of the National IT leadership team, provide broad perspective and thought leadership to develop and implement key strategies and critical business priorities at the System level.  Strong networking and relationship management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and develop and implement long term goals and operating plans.  Ability to influence change and lead management teams through  changing work requirements and priorities, demanding deadlines, operational crisis situations, as well as being able to keep pace with multiple concurrent initiatives.

  • Able to effectively navigate and achieve results on initiatives that have both a cross-functional and cross-district impact.  Ability to effectively convey complex, sensitive issues and communicate to a variety of audiences including technical staff, peers, as well as senior management, and oversight bodies. 

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with the appropriate level of judgment, discretion, and maturity.

Education/Experience:


Five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in roles for responsible for managing multiple functions in a demanding environment.  Strong inspirational leadership and motivational skills with the ability to effectively manage high performing staff and management teams.  Professional experience in applicable discipline and demonstrated experience in evaluating significant IT processes and maintaining a robust Information Technology control environment for a complex IT organization
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required. MBA or an advanced degree, preferred
