Then join the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis as an Information Security Operations Manager.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Information Security Manager. This position will oversee staff responsible for:

·       Threat, vulnerability, and incident management

·       Security design, development, and implementation

·       Identity and access management

·       Security education, awareness, and communication

Responsibilities include: 

·       Directs and manages the activities of Information Security staff in a variety of functions, including threat management and access management. Ensures optimal day-to-day operating objectives are met while longer-term projects and objectives are attained.

·       Manages and coaches supervisors, project managers, analysts, and/or operations staff. Oversees staffing, performance management, staff development, salary recommendations, and terminations.

·       Translates policy decisions from System governing bodies into strategic, business, and automation plans. Ensures department/section processes are efficient and effective, and procedures are up-to-date, relevant, and adhere to compliance standards.

·       Directs and manages security incident response plans, including coordinating multidisciplinary teams within the Bank for response to disruptive and destructive information security events. 

·       Initiates and supervises feasibility studies on new or improved technologies including security impact and access management solutions. Recommends necessary changes or new technologies. Provides input for the evaluation and selection of security applications and systems. 

·       Identifies, analyzes, and develops mitigation plans for, and reports on information security risks to the business. Ensures periodic testing of policies, standards and controls to ensure ongoing effectiveness and compliance. 

·       Develops and recommends to senior management strategic business objectives, budget priorities, procedures, methodologies, contingency plans and/or performance metrics for the Information Security section.

·       Troubleshoots and coordinates the resolution of, or direct staff in the resolution of, complex technology problems or issues.

·       Participates on Bank and Federal Reserve System workgroups and initiatives as a resource and adviser related to information security matters, services and solutions.


Bachelor’s degree with coursework in business administration, computer science, management information systems or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 8 years of broad technical experience in one or more phases of information technology and management information systems, to include technical project management, leadership, supervision or management. 

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated leadership, mentoring, coaching and/or staff development skills; strong interpersonal skills; and demonstrated organizational and planning skills. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Demonstrated experience with information security concepts, practices, and technologies, such as:  information security controls and policies, risk assessment, network security, intrusion detection, incident response, computer forensics, and public key infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate technical issues both orally and in writing.

Strong troubleshooting skills and a working knowledge of current technologies. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Familiarity with the ITIL framework and multiple technology products such as MS SQL Server; Oracle; IIS; Active Directory; WebSphere; Microsoft Windows; Unix; Linux; storage area networks; BMC Remedy; security information and event management (SIEM) software products; scripting; Intrusion Detection Systems;  application security testing; endpoint management solutions.

CISA, CISM or CISSP certification.
