Job Summary:


Initiates, manages, and leads multiple projects and initiatives to achieve major business strategies and direction. Directly and/or indirectly supervises and guides project members, technical and analytical support staff to accomplish objectives. Provides expertise in business processes and/or RPO systems expertise. Responsible for development of project plans and execution of project deliverables. Responsible for devising and/or modifying and ensuring implementation of associated operating procedures. Ensures leadership is informed of project progress, findings, and deployment plans.


Key Activities:


  • Manages and leads multiple projects and initiatives to advance the development of retail payments services. Projects often involve technical product development and require a high level of business and technical acumen.
  • Manages projects by outlining project requirements in terms of resources, equipment, time and costs. Responsible for development of overall project plans and managing projects to scope. Communicates project progress, findings, output and deployment plans to leadership and all constituents.
  • Leads (directly and indirectly) project teams in execution of projects. Confers with and advises team participants on policies and procedures, priorities and methods. Coordinates project resources.  Consults with personnel in other business areas to coordinate activities.
  • Develops and maintains key relationships and effectively communicates with stakeholders, including senior executives.
  • Ensures cross-project dependencies are identified to establish priorities in project completion.
  • Drives issues to closure and escalates obstacles to project sponsor as necessary.
  • Facilitates and contributes to lessons learned reviews with project teams. Recommends and/or implements process improvements based on findings.
  • Acts as an escalation point for conflicts, risks, issues and action items as brought forth by project team. Responds to issues or problems that arise in day-to-day project operations and/or during development efforts. Meets with operations and/or technical development staff to define and investigate problems or issues and propose solutions with time and cost estimates. Verifies results of all changes and/or enhancements.
  • Ensures new products and upgrades comply and conform to the latest industry rules and regulations and Federal Reserve policy and procedures. Remains current on emerging payments issues through Federal Reserves and other research, seminars, and workshops. Supports efforts to educate the industry and/or Reserve Banks regarding various retail payments topics and initiatives.
  • Provides leadership to work groups and staff throughout the Bank and System to foster communication and sharing of best practices. Includes coordinating with internal and external resources for the planning, development and implementation of new services or enhancements to existing services.
  • May assist with the development and support of local Project Management Office (PMO) policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Trains, coaches, and mentors new/junior Project Managers.

Qualifications:

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree specializing in business, related computer technology, or equivalent combination of education and/or directly related work experience.
  • Minimum of six years of technology project management experience, including end-to-end software development life cycle project management experience.
  • Five to eight years preferred functional knowledge preferences in areas of: Project Management, Information Technology, Retail Payments, and Banking Operations.
  • Proven success in executing small, medium, and large multi-year projects
  • Knowledge of Federal Reserve PAF principles is desired
  • RPO Systems (functional and/or technical expertise)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills •
  • Comfortable working in a virtual environment
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
  • Collaborative team player, capable of working well with others, but also autonomously with little direction
  • Comfortable facilitating and leading discussions with large groups
  • Effective communication skills across a broad audience
  • Possesses strong technical aptitude, including knowledge of software development methodologies and processes (e.g., agile, RUP, waterfall, scrum); computing environments; and tools such as JIRA and Remedy.
  • PMP certification preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in the use of project management tools (e.g., MS Project)
  • Ability to work with large, cross-functional, diverse project team through effective teamwork, conflict management, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
