Job Summary:

The data analyst job family provides the data modeling, data analysis, and data validation functions in support of application development, data analytics, and business analysis projects. This role designs the organization, structures, and definition of data to meet business requirements and needs of the organization. The position will work on large scale data analytic projects that are related to improving the value, quality, and availability of federal financial data to strengthen government-wide decision-making and accountability.

Key Activities:

  • Collects, cleanses, analyzes, and validates data prior to it being stored in application databases for final use by the organization and/or its clients. Constructs and applies standard statistical analysis and/or models to verify data acceptability/accuracy.
  • Configures, operates, and develops manual and/or automated methods, processes, and procedures to test output or input based on data compliance, quality and use requirements as established by product management, client specifications, and governance programs. 
  • Ensures data integrity by implementing quality assurance practices. Plans, designs, develops, and performs quality assessments on data elements and structures to document and evaluate integrity, completeness, quality, and appropriateness of formats, records, and structures. Gathers and enters missing data and resolves any anomalies.
  • Performs regular and ad hoc reviews, audits, and investigations of data activity and integrity; prepares reports and summaries of findings. 
  • Produces and updates guidelines and documentation of test development processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Identifies areas of improvement in data collection processes or systems and make recommendations to correct any deficiencies. 
  • Works on Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes/projects, individually or as part of or in conjunction with a database/data warehouse team.


  • Candidate is required to have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an information technology field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Advanced skill in SQL database query language required • Working knowledge of related database, business intelligence, ETL, and middleware technologies required
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure logical sequence and/or organization of data and related processes
  • Excellent initiative, innovative thinking skills, and the ability to analyze details and
  • At least 4 years data management experience, with understanding of both transactional and data warehouse modeling
  • Master data management and data governance experience desired
  • Technology architecture/engineering, information security, or related experience desired
  • Excellent initiative, innovative thinking skills, and the ability to analyze details and adopt a big-picture view  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex technical information to technical and non-technical contacts
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills. Ability to effectively build relationships, promotes a collaborative and inclusive team environment, and influences others.
  • Accomplished analytical and problem solving skills.  
  • Understanding of Agile and Scrum principles desired
  • United States citizenship is required for this position.

This position has additional screening requirements due to the information accessed while performing the job. These additional screenings would be initiated at the time of offer acceptance and can take up to a couple of months to be completed. You can begin work before the screening is completed; however, continued employment is contingent on acceptable screening results. The areas screened may include education/employment verification, criminal history, credit history, and reference checks.
