Get in on the ground-floor of an exciting new unit operating a critical financial services business on behalf of the Federal Reserve System (FRS)! The Wholesale Product Office (WPO) is responsible for the management, operation, support and development of wholesale services (Fedwire Funds Service, Fedwire Securities Service and National Settlement Service), which includes developing new services, service enhancements, and pricing models, and ensuring the technology used to deliver the wholesale services is secure, resilient, and satisfies business requirements. The WPO carries out our mission through teams operating out of the Federal Reserve Banks of New York and Minneapolis, and a network of essential Reserve Bank service providers. 

Our team is responsible for the 24x7 operation and administration of distributed payments systems supporting the high-value, high-availability Fedwire businesses. We ensure Wholesale Services and Account Balance Services applications are available according to their business requirements while providing premium customer service to the Federal Reserve System districts and other application users.

You must be willing to work Sunday through Thursday (overnight shift), and you will be required to work on-site as well as have flexibility and capabilities to work off-site.  For optimal coverage, you may be subject to periodic rotation to other shifts and/or available for weekend testing. The Federal Reserve Bank has implemented social distancing, mask wearing, temperature checks, and other related protocols to keep you safe in light of the current pandemic situation. 

A 10% premium shift differential applies to this overnight position.


Monitor the Production Fedwire Applications and Operating Systems including the completion of the daily checklist of activities which are critical in meeting the Service availability target for customer processing.

Actively identify and resolve issues, share production operation activity, and escalate to senior management.

Assist with operational and contingency procedures for payment applications and environments and support the implementation of all environment and application changes to the Fedwire systems.

Contribute to analysis and reporting on production problems and operational issues.

Assist with projects, work group initiatives, and developing operational/technical procedures.

Assist internal and external Fedwire customers with updates and inquiries.

Help draft technical test scripts for multiple application and contingency test activities.

Support customer testing and disaster recovery/contingency testing.

Stay abreast with all Federal Reserve Bank policies and initiatives.


Associates degree in business or computer technology, or equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.

At least three years of experience in technical operations to include technical customer service. (Five years for Level II.)

A base knowledge of critical production environments and payment systems. Knowledge of Fedwire® business is highly desirable.

Experience with distributed computer processes and environments. Knowledge of distributed components such as UNIX, SQL, and WebSphere is extremely desirable with capability and desire to expand expertise.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.

Proven ability to think clearly and remain calm when confronted with critical production issues.

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate and share production operation activity and business status with area management and appropriate stake holders.

Advanced proficiency using standard business applications and software.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Ability to interact with a variety of staff and management and maintain effective working relationships across the organization.
